18-year-old Trew Smith is one of two suspects who are accused of shooting a 23-year-old food stand vendor in Lindsey on Dec. 19, Yuba County Sheriff's officials said.

LINDA, California — A 23-year-old Olivehurst man was shot after two teenagers tried to rob his food truck stand in front of an apartment complex, according to the Yuba County Sheriff's Department.

Sheriff's officials said Alberto Gonzales was shot in the 2300 block of N. Beal Road in Linda. Deputies found him on the sidewalk with life-threatening wounds. Gonzales received emergency surgery at the Adventist Hospital and remained in critical condition.

The sheriff's office identified one suspect as 18-year-old Trew Smith, but they did not release the identity of the second suspect because he is a minor.

Multiple witnesses told deputies they saw a fight between Gonzales and the two suspects before the shooting. It is not clear when or who opened fire.

Both suspects face charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault with a firearm, and robbery.

Smith is booked with a $1 million bail in the Yuba County Jail while the unidentified second suspect was booked into juvenile hall.
