SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. — Three people were found dead in a Sacramento County apartment unit Saturday, according to the officials.
They were found in the area of 5700 block of Shadow Creek Drive. Officials were called to the area around 3:30 p.m. for a welfare check, said Sacramento County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Sgt. Amar Gandhi. It's currently unknown who called in the welfare check.
Deputies made entry into the unit where they found three people dead with gunshot wounds. Gandhi says from what officials can see, all three victims are likely adults. The relationship between the victims is currently unknown, and it's unclear when they died or if any weapons are inside the residence.
Neighbors in the area say they didn't hear anything, but grew concerned when they saw law enforcement in the area.
"No ambulance came in and there is a lot of cops so something bad had to have happened," said one neighbor. "We are just shocked because there is never a cop car in here. Never ever, ever."
Investigators are on scene and will continue to work throughout the night.
Officials do not believe there to be a threat to the public at this time. No other information is available.
