CALIFORNIA, USA — An organized retail theft investigation recovered more than $350,000 of stolen merchandise in Galt and Oakland, California Highway Patrol said Tuesday.
In collaboration with other organizations, CHP executed search warrants on Nov. 7. CHP said an Oakland home was being used to fence stolen property with additional stolen retail merchandise suspected to be stored in a box van and a trailer in Galt.
During the search in Galt, officers seized two vehicles with stolen retail merchandise.
In an Oakland home, investigators found stolen retail merchandise. CHP said they found more stolen merchandise in a storage facility in Oakland leased by those suspected in the theft operation.
CHP said investigators also found more than $17,000 in proceeds from illicit activities.
The people suspected in the theft were booked into the Alameda County jail and are facing several charges including possession of stolen property and conspiracy to commit a crime, according to CHP. The identities of the people arrested were not released.
