LINDEN, California — Six people are facing charges in connection to rooster fighting in Linden.
According to the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a report of trespassing and presumed rooster fights in the area of North Escalon Bellota Road and East Flood Road on May 19.
Deputies saw multiple cars and people running away from the location when they arrived, but six suspects were detained. Deputies said they also found a rooster fighting ring, gaffs (blades attached to a rooster during a fight) and multiple roosters.
While animal services dealt with the roosters, deputies arrested Jose Ledesma, 34; Sergio Ruiz Turo, 44; Jorge Ceron Gonzalez, 36; Miguel Andrade Valencia, 32; Cesar Coronado Barba, 29 and Gerlich Barba, 35.
The charges included animal abuse, trespassing, conspiracy to commit a crime, possession of a game cock for fighting and possession of implements for fighting birds.
