TURLOCK, Calif. — Another suspected ATM card skimmer was arrested in Turlock at the start of July.
According to Turlock Police Department, Mihai Lupu, 29, was arrested in connection to a card skimming scheme.
Police learned about the alleged skimming device on July 1. Officials said the skimmer was on an ATM at a local bank and used cameras to capture the victim's pin number.
Police were able to find Lupu, and during a search of his car, they said officers found multiple skimming devices, 177 encoded gift cards and several tools to insert and retrieve the devices.
Lupu was arrested on suspicion of possessing over 10 people's identities with intent to defraud, possession of a scanning device and driving without a license.
According to police, seven total skimmers have been arrested since October 2023, and all but one of them are in custody.
