NEVADA CITY, Calif. — Two officers are recovering at home after they were hit by an alleged DUI driver in Nevada City Sunday morning.
The Nevada City Police Department told ABC10 the officers were helping a car that hit and killed a bear before they were hit themselves. It happened along Highway 49 near the Broad Street on-ramp.
Police said the officers were setting up flares to redirect traffic, and during that time, the alleged DUI driver went through the road flares and hit the two officers.
Both officers were taken to a hospital and are "recovering well" at home, police told ABC10.
The California Highway Patrol arrived for the investigation and arrested 28-year-old Geoffrey Rodgers for felony DUI.
