JACKSON, Calif. — A man was arrested Sunday after a dog exchange turned violent in Jackson, deputies said.
The Amador County Sheriff's Office said Mark Everett Lawrence, of Jackson, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. Deputies responded to the incident around 12:40 p.m. outside a general store along Highway 88 at Dalton Road.
Arriving deputies found a man with a suspected knife wound to the left arm and three others were exposed to pepper spray.
Citing witness statements, deputies said Lawrence, Lucas Martin Stephens, Melisa Marie Dunkle and Troy Richardson were involved in altercation that turned into a fight while meeting for a dog exchange. Deputies said the verbal altercation was between Lawrence and his ex-girlfriend's current boyfriend, Stephens, who was the one Lawrence allegedly stabbed in the arm.
Deputies said Richardson used pepper spray, which impacted all four people and ended the fight.
Lawrence made his way back to his vehicle in the parking lot area where he was later found by deputies.
Deputies said Lawrence was taken to the hospital for treatment of a head injury and cuts to his hands before being booked into the Amador County Jail.
