Suspect arrested after allegedly starting house fire in Alta area of Placer County

Deputies say the home's security footage captured the suspect setting a vehicle on fire. The vehicle fire then spread to a cabin where two people were inside.

PLACER COUNTY, Calif. — Deputies arrested a woman accused of starting a vehicle fire that spread to a cabin in the Alta area.

On Monday around 2:30 p.m., the Placer County Sheriff's Office received a call of a disturbance on the 700 block of Hideaway Loop.

Deputies said the home's security footage captured a female suspect setting a vehicle on fire. The vehicle fire later spread into a cabin that had two people inside.

The suspect fled into the woods, but deputies were able to find and identify the suspect as a white woman in her 20s.

According to deputies, both residents were able to exit the cabin without injuries.
