1 shot near In-N-Out, Cheesecake Factory in Arden Arcade

The victim is still alive as of 8:30 a.m. Sunday, but deputies said they are treating the incident as a homicide due to his worsening condition.

ARDEN-ARCADE, Calif. — A man was shot and taken to the hospital Saturday night in Sacramento County, authorities said.

Around 10 p.m., a man was shot between the In-N-Out and Cheesecake Factory along the Alta Arden Expressway near Ethan Avenue, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office. More law enforcement officers were in the area near the Chick-fil-A. It is unclear why there are two scenes.

Sacramento Police Department officers and deputies are working together to investigate as the incident occurred near the county's boundary with the city of Sacramento.

Investigators said a small argument near the parking lot of an In-N'-Out Burger on Alta Arden Expressway turned violent.

"The victim was in a vehicle, was approached by another vehicle. We're not sure what transpired, but from there, the suspect in the other vehicle shot our victim and drove off," said Sgt. Amar Gandhi, spokesperson for the sheriff's office.

The victim drove off as well but only for less than half a mile to the Arden Faire Mall.

The victim is still alive as of 8:30 a.m. Sunday, but deputies are treating the incident as a homicide due to his worsening condition, according to Sgt. Gandhi.

"Especially with something this heinous and this grave, we want to make sure we have them out early so they can gather as much information as they can," said Gandhi.
