The victim of a Sunday knife assault in Turlock has died as a result of the injuries she sustained during the attack.
The attack was reported just after 10 p.m. on March 27, in which a woman entered the home of the 44-year-old victim, now identified as Eva Gallardo.
Turlock police report the suspect, identified as Maribel Gonzalez, 40, Gallardo and another 26-year-old victim began fighting for reasons undisclosed.
When officers arrived at the W. Olive Avenue home, they found Gallardo and the other victim with multiple stab wounds, police said.
A witness followed Gonzalez as she walked away from the home, directing officers to her location. She was then taken into custody and charged with attempted homicide.
Gallardo was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of critical injuries, while the other victim received treatment at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Police report as of Wednesday, Gallardo had succumb to her injuries.
Gonzalez has been rebooked into the Stanislaus County Jail, and now faces homicide charges.
