BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont Police officers have arrested a third suspect in connection with the shooting death of 39-year-old Ebonie Gilbert.
Tydrick Davis, 20, who was previously wanted as a "person of interest," has been arrested for murder.
On Sunday, 21-year-old Javonta Turner was arrested during a search warrant in the 4000 block of Maida. He was later taken to the Beaumont Police Department and interviewed by detectives according to police.
The bond for Turner, who is suspected of being the second shooter in the murder of Gilbert, has been set at $800,000.
When police searched a Maida Dr. home for Turner they encountered his brother, Ricky Turner, 40, who told officers that only his grandmother and uncle were inside the house and that turner was not there, according to a probable cause affidavit filed with Jefferson County magistrate Marc DeRouen.
Ricky Tuner told officers several times that his brother, Javonta Turner, was not there and acknowledged that he knew his brother had an active warrant and often visited the home.
After officers found Javonta Turner hiding in a locked bedroom of the home they arrested the Ricky Turner on a charge of hindering apprehension or prosecution, which is a class A misdemeanor. He was also charged with being a felon in possession of body armor, a third degree felony, according to affidavit. His bonds total $18,000 on the charges.
The body armor was stolen from a police vehicle earlier this month during an overnight burglary at a residence a Beaumont Police spokesperson confirmed.
Yesterday police arrested 21-year-old-D'Corey Shillow after his family turned him into the police station to be questioned, according to Sergeant Swope, the Public Information Officer for BPD.
After being interviewed by homicide detectives, Shillow was been placed under arrest for the murder of Gilbert.
Sergeant Swope confirmed to 12News that Shillow is one of three suspects. His bond has been set at $750,000.
Police began investigating a murder on Bennett Road after receiving a call about a possible shooting victim Friday afternoon.
Beaumont Police first received a call about a possible shooting at the 3500 block of Bennett Road at around 3 p.m. where they found Gilbert dead inside of her home.
After further investigation BPD detectives uncovered the events which lead to Gilbert's death on her Ring Doorbell camera according to Sergeant Tom Swope.
"Investigators on scene have uncovered video evidence from the homeowners ring doorbell camera that shows a brutal, cold-blooded killing," said Swope.
Swope says that Gilbert interrupted two men attempting to burglarize her car outside of her home at around 8 p.m. One of the men then shot her at close range before fleeing as Gilbert crawled back inside.
Gilbert reportedly attempted to call for help but was unable to before succumbing to her wounds.
The 12News crew at the scene witnessed multiple evidence markers outside of the house.
"We need the public's assistance identifying these killers," said Swope.
According to call logs, Beaumont Police received three calls from 2:47 p.m. to 2:49 p.m. An ID call, a call about someone being unconscious, and finally a call reporting a victim of a shooting.
