MODESTO, Calif — Deputies launched an investigation after a body was found in South Modesto Sunday morning.
According to the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office, the body was reported by a woman walking her dog who found it on the canal bank near Las Vegas Street and Alpine Avenue around 6:45 a.m.
First responders were able to find the body and identify the person as Erik Estrada, 32 formerly of Waterford.
An investigation into the death is underway, with officials describing the death as suspicious. However, few details surrounding the death were released, including the nature of it.
