16-year-old hiker reported missing in Plumas County

The Plumas County Sheriff's Office said the teenager's mother reported her missing around 6 p.m. Sunday in the Lakes Basin area.

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. — Crews are set to resume searching Monday for a 16-year-old hiker reported missing Sunday evening in Plumas County.

The Plumas County Sheriff's Office said the teenager's mother reported her missing around 6 p.m. Sunday in the Lakes Basin area. The mother said she dropped off her daughter, Camila ‘Mila’ Schweyer, near the Elwell Lakes Lodge.

Crews searched Sunday night, but couldn't find Schweyer.

She is described as being about 5 feet, 110 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a dark gray sweatshirt, black leggings, blue shoes and carrying a light blue backpack. She was hiking with a small, chihuahua-type dog, according to the sheriff's office.
