Two shootings that happened minutes apart under investigation in Ceres

The Ceres Police Department said it's unclear if the shootings are related, but it's investigating all possibilities.

CERES, Calif. — The Ceres Police Department is investigating two shootings that happened over the weekend.

The first shooting was Sunday, Oct. 13 around 12:30 a.m. Officers responded to reports of an unresponsive man near a canal bank by a former Walmart at 1670 Mitchell Road. Upon arrival, officers found a 39-year-old homeless man who had been shot. He died at the scene.

The second shooting happened minutes later about a mile away. A 53-year-old man was shot at the intersection of Hatch Road and Faith Home Road. He has minor injuries and is recovering.

The Ceres Police Department said it's not clear if the shootings are related, but it's investigating all possibilities.
