DAVIS, Calif. — A sketch of the possible attacker in the Davis stabbings was deemed "not viable" due to low confidence in its accuracy, police said Wednesday.
Davis Police Department said a sketch artist worked with a witness to the second homicide, but the witness had low confidence that the sketch accurately depicted the attacker.
Police said the sketch was "not viable for use."
While there were also witnesses to the third attack on L Street, the descriptions couldn't provide finer details for an accurate depiction.
"A sketch that illustrates a misleading representation of a suspect could lead to the false apprehension of an innocent person," police said in a news release.
As for the investigation itself, biological evidence from each crime scene was gathered and early returns are being analyzed for a potential source. However, no conclusions have been made yet.
The attacks have left two people dead and one woman in the hospital.
Suspicious activity can be reported to the police department by calling 530-747-5400 or 911 if it is an emergency.
