RIO LINDA, Calif. — Terrifying surveillance video shows a drive-by shooting that narrowly missed a Rio Linda mother and four-year-old child.

It happened just after 4:00 a.m. Wednesday on the 7100 block of Paladin Way. No one was injured, but the family's home was riddled with bullet holes. The shooters are still at large.

"Someone's shooting, get the kids," the mother, who asked not to be identified for fears about her safety, can be heard shouting at her husband in the video.

Her mother, Kari Baker, said she was grateful her daughter wasn't shot.

"That’s my baby. That’s my youngest daughter, so I’m just so thankful she’s OK," Baker said, adding that her daughter believes the shooters must have targeted the wrong house.

Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies recovered dozens of shell casings after the shooting, but a spokesperson could not say whether any other homes in the neighborhood got hit. In a Thursday update, officials said the shooting appears to be juvenile gang related.

With bullets flying through the house, remarkably, a fish tank stood between the gunfire and one of the children's bedrooms.

"I said, that didn't even break your fish tank? But it saved my grandson's life," Baker said.
