McKinney's daughter, Angela Hoover-Brasher, issued a statement for the family regarding this case:

"My mom's name was Helen McKinney. But most people in El Dorado County will know her as Helen Hoover. She was a resident of El Dorado County for most of her life. She has 2 children, Angela Hoover-Brasher and Brian Hoover. She has 6 grandsons, ages range 12 down to 1-year-old. She was a registered nurse and worked in the medical career her entire life. She loved her family, friends, her home, and career. The last we heard from her were messages asking what the kids wanted for Christmas and letting us know that holiday classics would be airing the next day and we should record them for the kids to watch.

She was found deceased in her home late Tuesday night. In addition to other details, this case is seen as suspicious for her car and other belongings cannot be found. The authorities are asking for the public’s help and support in locating her car. We are hoping that through the public’s help, we can find the vehicle, which then can help us get the answers we need.

This holiday season will be especially hard for our family and we appreciate everyone’s love and support."
