SONOMA COUNTY, Calif. — A Fairfield man is behind bars in connection to a Sonoma County homicide.
According to the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to a rural home along Carroll Road in Valley Ford around 3 p.m. Saturday. The caller, who wasn't at the home but was on the phone a family member who was, reported that an unknown man was screaming outside the home.
Deputies said Adrian Yanez, 44 of Fairfield, was screaming at two family members and trying to break down the door of the home. One family member started locking the doors while the other hid.
Deputies said Yanez broke down the doors and killed the victim.
Deputies arrived and took Yanez into custody and recovered the weapon.
Yanez was booked into the county jail on suspicion of murder and burglary. A motive is still under investigation.
