SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. — A Cal Fire firefighter was arrested Thursday after an indecent exposure investigation began in March, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office.
Rancho Cordova Police Department officers responded to a car wash on Sunrise Boulevard March 30 about reports of a man "exposing his erect penis to a woman" while trying to talk to her, officials say. She got into her car and drove away before reporting the incident.
Clifford Robinson, 32 and a firefighter for Cal Fire, was identified as a suspect during the investigation, officials say. The sheriff's office says he was a registered sex offender after previously being arrested for a similar situation years before. It's unclear if Robinson became a firefighter before or after being registered as a sex offender. Cal Fire told ABC10 they're unable to confirm his employment history until after Memorial Day.
Officials say Robinson was arrested on suspicion of indecent exposure in a public place and release after posing a $10,000 bond hours later.
Detectives are asking anyone with information about this case or who may be a possible victim to call them at 916-874-5115 "due to Robinson’s position in public trust and frequent and intimate access to the community."
ABC10 reached out to Cal Fire who provided the following statement:
"CAL FIRE demands its employees uphold standards of professional conduct both on and off duty. We are aware of this criminal case and are monitoring it closely."
