Deputies rescue woman after she calls 911 pretending to order pizza

Dispatchers quickly realized she was in danger and were able to send deputies to rescue her.

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A 911 dispatch center got a call from a woman trying to order a pizza, but dispatchers quickly realized she was in danger.

The woman called 911 around 4 a.m. over the weekend and told responders that she wanted an extra cheese pizza, according to a video posted by the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.

When asked if she knew she was calling the emergency line, she said, "Yes, I'm sure I'm calling to that number." She told them she didn't know her location, and she was stuck there. She said the man who she was with wouldn't take her back home.

Sheriff Mike Chitwood said in the video that dispatchers were able to track her phone so deputies could find her. When they started to search the area by foot, responders heard loud music coming from a field and found a man on top of a woman as she was screaming.

The deputies quickly jumped into action and pulled him off of her.

"I am so proud, number one, of our victim for having the wherewithal and keep her whits to get that information to our communications folks," Chitwood said.

Deputies arrested 27-year-old Luis Diego Hernandez-Moncayo who is in the country illegally and reportedly just applied for asylum a day before, according to law enforcement. Hernandez-Moncayo is charged with sexual battery, battery by strangulation and false imprisonment with an immigration detainer from the U.S. Border Patrol.

Chitwood said the two people were just supposed to have a couple of drinks together but Hernandez-Moncayo allegedly did a "180" after doing drugs and tried to rape her.
