Galt driver was 4 times over legal blood alcohol limit during crash, police say

Police the suspect drove over two lawns and hit two parked cars.

GALT, Calif. — A driver was accused of DUI after crashing into multiple vehicles in Galt Wednesday afternoon.

According to Galt Police Department, the incident was reported along the 200 block of Palin Avenue and involved multiple cars and a carport.

When police arrived, they found Israel Bautista-Morfin, 31 of Galt, in the driver seat of a Honda minivan. According to police, he showed signs of intoxication and was later found to be four times over the legal blood alcohol content limit.

Police said Bautista-Morfin left the roadway for an unknown reason, went through two front yards and hit two parked cars. One of those cars hit a home's carport and one of the cars also had a person inside. They were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Bautista-Morfin was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI and taken to a hospital for minor injuries. Once cleared, he'll be booked into the county jail.
