GALT, Calif. — Police officers in Galt recovered nearly 100 pieces of stolen mail during a traffic stop early Sunday morning, the city's police department said in a Facebook post.
According to the Galt Police Department, officers stopped the car early Sunday because it was a suspect vehicle in recent community mailbox thefts.
The driver of the car, identified by police as 40-year-old Randyll Wilson of Sacramento, was on probation which prompted police to conduct a probation search.
During the search, officers allegedly found the stolen pieces of mail addressed to multiple addresses in Galt.
Officers arrested Wilson on warrants and on suspicion of identity theft and being in possession of stolen property.
