William Carl Gardner III has been found guilty of first-degree murder for the 2013 slaying of his ex-girlfriend in Winters.
The verdict was announced Thursday in Yolo County Superior Court. Gardner was on trial for the murder of 32-year-old Leslie Pinkston as she sat in her car Nov. 18, 2013 in a Winters parking lot in front of her workplace.
Pinkston had a restraining order against Gardner to stay away from her, her daughter and her mother.
Gardner was arrested after a standoff with authorities in December in Las Vegas.
Thursday afternoon, loved ones and friends of Pinkston gathered outside the Yolo County Courthouse.
"We got him! Just a relief to finally have him, to find him, to get him, to have him pay for what he did to her," the victim's niece Heather Pinkston McCants said.
"This was a heinous crime and I think that justice has been served," juror Christopher Santana said.
Gardner's sentencing date is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 1 at 8:30 a.m. He could face up to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
