Police: 18-year-old arrested after bringing gun to Elk Grove high school basketball game

The suspect was at a basketball game at Cosumnes Oaks High School Friday evening when Elk Grove police were called about someone having a handgun.

ELK GROVE, Calif. — An 18-year-old was arrested after allegedly bringing a gun to a basketball game in Elk Grove, according to police.

The suspect was at a basketball game at Cosumnes Oaks High School Friday evening when Elk Grove police were called about someone having a handgun. When officers went to the 18-year-old man, he allegedly ran and was caught by a police K-9, according to officials. 

Police say they found the gun and no one but the suspect was injured. Two others were detained, but it's unclear why or what their connection was. Police didn't mention if the game was disrupted by the incident. No further information is available at this time.
