Sacramento police partner with America's Most Wanted to help find suspect in L Street shooting

Tahje Michael is accused of shooting and killing Greg "Najee" Grimes in 2022's L Street shooting.

SACRAMENTO, Calif — The Sacramento Police Department is leveraging a popular TV show to help track down the suspect in the killing of a 31-year-old football coach.

In a news release, the Sacramento Police Department announced a partnership with America's Most Wanted in connection to the killing of Greg "Najee" Grimes. 

Grimes was killed on July 4, 2022, as people were leaving a nightclub along the 1500 block of L Street in downtown Sacramento. Loved ones described Grimes as a supportive person who helped with toy drives and feeding the homeless with Giving Back with Purpose, a nonprofit group. He was also described as a role model for the Inderkum High football team that he coached.

The suspect in his killing was identified as Tahje Michael, 29. 

"Tahje Michael is considered armed and dangerous and we urge anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to come forward immediately," police said in a news release.

Authorities are calling on anyone with information to contact their dispatch center at 916-808-5471.
