SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A man was arrested Monday night on suspicion of killing a woman at a south Sacramento apartment complex earlier that day.
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said Leslie Weikert lived at the apartment complex and had a dispute with a woman who worked there. Deputies responded to reports of a shooting around 9:40 a.m. at the Cardosa Village apartments on 66th Avenue. The website for Cardosa says it's a "community for persons with psychiatric disabilities and their children."
The sheriff's office said the 66-year-old shot the woman multiple times and left the scene. The woman's name hasn't been released and it's unclear what the dispute was about.
Deputies found him later Monday evening and he was taken to the Sacramento County Main Jail where was booked without bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 31.
