Man, 21, accused of intentionally setting wildfire near Grass Valley

Crews were called out to battle a wildfire near Loma Rica Ranch on Sunday. Police believe it was intentionally set.

GRASS VALLEY, Calif. — A 21-year-old man was arrested after allegedly starting a fire near Grass Valley on Sunday.

Crews were called out to battle a wildfire near Loma Rica Ranch, located between Brunswick Road and Sutton Way, around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.  Crews worked quickly and the fire was extinguished without causing any damage or injuries.

A witness reached out to police about seeing someone in the area of where the fire started. Investigators found the man, identified as Timothy Bianchi, near Plaza Drive and Sutton Way.

Bianchi was soon arrested for arson related to the fire. Investigators did not elaborate on the conversation they had with Bianchi before his arrest.
