Man accused of starting fire near Woodward Reservoir

Bystanders in the area spotted the fire and were able to contain it to a small area, approximately 50 feet by 50 feet, according to Cal Fire.

STANISLAUS COUNTY, Calif. — A man was arrested for arson after a fire broke out at campgrounds near the Woodward Reservoir in Stanislaus County on Thursday.

Bystanders in the area spotted the fire and were able to contain it to a small area, approximately 50 feet by 50 feet, according to Cal Fire.

After the fire was out, investigators said witnesses led them to 65-year-old Ronald Zaske, who they said was still at the scene. Zaske was arrested on a charge of arson to wildland.

Cal Fire investigators did not say how the fire was started.
