Man arrested after shooting at Iron Door Saloon in Groveland

According to those witnesses, 29-year-old Juan Banuelos shot the victim because they were fighting with one of his friends.

GROVELAND, Calif — A man was arrested for attempted murder after a shooting at the famous Iron Door Saloon in Groveland, Saturday night.

Tuolumne County Sheriff’s deputies were called out to reports of a shooting at the Iron Door, but when they arrived the suspect had already taken off. Witnesses at the bar identified the shooter as 29-year-old Juan Banuelos of Coulterville.

According to those witnesses, Banuelos shot the victim because they were fighting with one of his friends, the sheriff’s office reported.

Several hours after the shooting, authorities said Banuelos returned to the bar and was arrested.

The victim, who has not yet been identified, was flown by medical helicopter to a hospital in Modesto. That person’s condition is unknown.

Banuelos was booked into the Tuolumne County Jail on a complaint for attempted murder.

The sheriff’s office is asking any witnesses with photos or video of the incident to call their office at 209-533-5815.
