VALLEJO, Calif. — The Vallejo Police Department says a man was arrested at the scene of a potential second robbery following the first robbery at a business on the 3600 block of Sonoma Blvd around 2 p.m. Friday.
Police said in a Facebook post the man "entered the store, jumped over the counter, assaulted an employee, and stole approximately $3,000 from an open safe." They then took off from the scene.
"Unbeknownst to the robber, he had also taken a GPS tracking device, which led VPD officers to his exact location," police said in the post.
Police say the man was inside another business on the 3500 block of Sonoma Blvd and asked about the cash register.
"As the robber was engaging the employee, our officers moved in and apprehended him, preventing a potential second robbery," police said.
Law enforcement adds the robber was a convicted felon, currently on probation with multiple felony theft convictions. They were arrested and booked into the county jail.
