FOOTHILL FARMS, Calif. — A man was taken to the hospital after a shooting in the Foothill Farms area of Sacramento County.
According to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office, the shooting was reported in the area of Greenback Lane and Garfield Avenue just after 9 p.m. by an ambulance company.
Sgt. Amar Gandhi, spokesperson for the sheriff's office, said the victim was initially walking in the area of Elkhorn Boulevard and Andrea Boulevard when he was approached by one or two people on foot and shot in the back. Gandhi said the victim heard a car speed off after the shooting.
At that point, Gandhi said the man was picked up by a good Samaritan who flagged down the ambulance company by the movie theater at Greenback Lane and Garfield Avenue.
The man is expected to survive.
