Manteca Police: Alleged retail thief was also wanted for attempted murder

Police said Tommy Lee Taylor was wanted for attempted murder in Stanislaus County

MANTECA, Calif. — A man suspected of attempted murder was busted for retail theft in Manteca, police said.

Tommy Lee Taylor Jr, 45, and Stephanie Marie Douglas, 41, were arrested on suspicion of ID theft, retail theft, possession of fentanyl and drug paraphernalia. 

The bust happened after Manteca Police Department's retail crime unit helped Kohl's Loss Prevention Monday. 

According to police, Taylor allegedly provided a false name to detectives to hide his identity, but was ultimately found to be wanted by the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office for felonies including attempted murder, reckless driving while evading police and transportation of narcotics.

Police said Taylor also had warrants in Mendocino County.
