MODESTO, Calif. — A man died after being hit by a car while on his bike in Modesto, according to officials.
The Modesto Police Department says the man was hit by a 2010-2013 white or light-colored Kia Soul just before 5:30 p.m. while crossing the street on McHenry Avenue near Standiford Avenue. The car drove off from the scene and officials say it should have damage to the front windshield and passenger side.
The bicyclist was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Southbound traffic is shut down at Union Avenue with no estimated time of reopening as officials investigate further. Officials advise drivers avoid the area.
