MODESTO, Calif. — Additional officers were present at a Modesto high school Thursday after an anonymous threat earlier this week, officials said.
According to Modesto City Schools, there's no reason to believe the threat was credible. District spokesperson Linda Mumma-Solorio described the threat as a general and anonymous threat to the school on what "appeared to be a Google form or survey" shared on social media.
Following the hoax, the school district had additional officers on campus both Wednesday and Thursday.
However, officials said some students left school after additional threat rumors went around the school campus.
"As is always the case, any time we are made aware of a threat, we investigate, as does the Modesto Police Department. Earlier today, additional threat rumors began to circulate on campus and some parents chose to pick up their students from school," said Mumma-Solorio.
In a letter to parents, Beyer High Principal Dan Park said the school has not been able to figure out who posted the earlier threat.
