1 dead, 1 critical after shooting in Natomas

Two people were shot in Natomas late Friday night, leaving one dead and another in critical condition.

SACRAMENTO, Calif —

One person was killed and another is in critical condition after a Friday night shooting in Natomas.

Sacramento police responded to a car crash with shots fired at Truxel Road and San Juan Road around 11 p.m. 

Arriving officers found two cars involved in the crash and a man with multiple gunshot wounds dead inside one of the vehicles. Another person was in critical, but stable, condition after being shot at least once, according to Sacramento police. That person was taken to the hospital.

At this point, police believe that both victims were in the same car. 

Police say the vehicle crashed into the other car near the intersection, however hat other car and the people inside were not injured and were not involved in the shooting.

Both victims in the investigation were described only as males.

Truxel Road is closed from I-80 to Mill Oak Way, and San Juan Road is closed from Pony Express Drive to the shopping center at the intersection. Officers are hoping to open up the roads soon.

The scene is still active and detectives are working to find witnesses and surveillance footage to help them piece together what happened.
