SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California prosecutors have added five new charges against a man alleged to be the so-called NorCal Rapist, bringing the number of victims to nine in six counties.
Sacramento County prosecutors filed new charges Thursday against Roy Charles Waller. They allege one additional rape and the kidnapping of two victims in Davis in 1997.

Defense attorney Joseph Farina says Waller intends to plead not guilty.
Waller was arrested based on DNA evidence in September at the University of California, Berkeley, where he worked for decades as a safety specialist.
Authorities say Waller broke into homes late at night or forced victims to withdraw money from ATMs between 1991 and 2006, often assaulting his victims repeatedly.
