GROVELAND, Calif. — The father of Roman Lopez was sentenced to 15 years in prison for sexual exploitation of a girl. The case is separate from the charges of murder, torture and child abuse Jordan Piper is facing in connection to his son's killing.
Citing court documents, the U.S. Attorney's Office said Piper made about 30 recordings of a minor victim in Groveland in 2019. Groveland is small town in Tuolumne County.
Officials said Piper made screenshots from recordings of the victim's genitalia and pubic area, and authorities found about 433 nude images of the victim on his cellphone.
Jordan Piper was previously arrested in connection with his son's death along with the boy's stepmother, Lindsay Piper. An autopsy showed the boy had been severely starved and dehydrated at the time of his death.
Officials say law enforcement seized various devices and found the pornographic images while investigating Lopez's death.
Lindsay Piper was sentenced to 15 years in prison with the possibility of parole in the case. Jordan Piper faces charges including murder, child abuse and torture in the case.
