Police: Homicides down 40 percent in Stockton

According to their data, Stockton Police said they saw a 40 percent drop in the number of homicides in 2018. Additionally, the data showed a 31 percent decline in non-fatal shootings.

Stockton Police reported a significant decline in the number of homicides and shootings in the city from 2017 to 2018.

According to their data, Stockton Police say they saw a 40 percent drop in the number of homicides in 2018. Additionally, the data showed a 31 percent decline in non-fatal shootings.

“While we are pleased with the reductions in homicides and non-fatal shootings in 2018, there is still a lot of work to be done as we move forward in 2019,” a police spokesperson wrote in a Facebook post regarding the latest crime figures.

Authorities acknowledged the public’s help in providing “more tips than ever," which aided police in solving crimes.

Data regarding other crimes such as sex crimes, assault, and robbery were not released.
