Police raid Portland Gypsy Jokers clubhouse in murder investigation

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Tactical police raided the Portland clubhouse of the Gypsy Jokers motorcycle gang early Friday morning.

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Tactical police raided the Portland clubhouse of the Gypsy Jokers motorcycle gang early Friday morning.

The raid was in connection with an investigation into the murder of former Gypsy Joker member Robert L. Huggins, 56, whose body was found last July in rural Clark County.

Six people, all members or associates of the outlaw motorcycle gang, have already been arrested in the case. Police said the death of Huggins was tied directly to his membership in the Gypsy Jokers.

The raid was made at two adjoining buildings at 3536 Northeast Garfield Street and 3535 Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Warrants were served by the Portland SERT team, assisted by an Oregon State Police SWAT squad and the Washington County Sheriff's Office Tactical Negotiation Team.

Huggins was last seen on June 30. He was kidnapped in Northeast Portland. His body was found a day later, according to Portland police detective Jim Lawrence.

"All I can say is the victim died a horrible death, the nature of his injuries are such that his last hours were awful," said Portland police detective Jim Lawrence.

An autopsy determined he died of multiple blunt and sharp force injuries.

Tiler Evan Pribbernow, 34, already in the Multnomah County jail, and Malachi Watkins, 32, in custody in Washington, are accused of the same crimes as Dencklau and Fisher.

Additionally, 51-year-old Ronald Charles Thompson and 43-year-old Kendra Castle are accused of hindering prosecution.

All but Watkins appeared in court Friday. Castle, Pribbernow and Dencklau entered not guilty pleas. Thompson and Fisher did not enter pleas.

Attorneys for the accused asked that documents about the case be unsealed, claiming thier clients do not know what the case is against them. No decision was made.
