Police: Semi-truck took off after hitting, killing man in Ceres

Citing witnesses, police said the driver got out of his truck to check on the man before he drove away.

CERES, Calif. — Police are trying to track down the driver of a semi-truck who they said hit and killed a pedestrian in Ceres early Thursday morning.

Ceres Police Department said the collision happened around 3:10 a.m. along the 1400 block of East Hatch Road, near Herndon Avenue.

Police found a 44-year-old man injured from the collision, but despite efforts to save his life, he died at the scene.

Citing witnesses, police said the driver got out of his truck to check on the man before he drove away.

According to police, the semi-truck is believed to red with a gray or silver box trailer. The driver and semi-truck haven't been identified and are considered at large. 

The man who was killed has not been identified at this time.
