FAIRFIELD, Calif. — Fairfield police say they arrested 11 people early Friday morning after a group of protestors blocked roads near an Air Force base.
Police say there were about 20 people total gathered and protesting on the shoulder and center median of the intersection of Air Base Parkway and Parker Road around 6 a.m. An hour later, some of the group began blocking traffic to multiple entrances into Travis Air Force Base, according to the Fairfield Police Department.
Traffic was stopped for five minutes and entirely reopened after the 11 were arrested.
The South Gate entrance to the base was also blocked by furniture with an "anti-war banner" on it and nails spread around to "fashioned to flatten tires of cars driving on the roadway," police say. Petersen Road was closed for about an hour while police cleared the debris. There was no mention of if any cars were impacted by the nails.
No injuries were reported in this incident.
