Racecar and family truck stolen from Sacramento home

Losing the man who showed him the way around a wheel was painful, but losing the truck that holds those memories was agonizing.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A Natomas family is asking for the public’s help after a racecar and a truck passed down generations was stolen from their home.

Owner Simon Fry says it happened on Sunday morning on Alvoca Way near Regency Park in North Natomas.

The white 2008 Chevy C6 Corvette, with a black hood and number 75 written on the side, a white 1999 Ford F250 and a black car trailer were caught on his neighbor’s surveillance camera being driven away.

“It was pretty rough,” said Fry. “It was really shocking. Definitely did not expect that.”

His passion and favorite memory was stolen in front of his home in the early morning hours of Easter Sunday.

“I was surprised actually how quickly it seemed like they were able to take it. I have learned that that truck really did not have a lot of anti-theft,” said Fry. “There is some footage of a van, it looks like leaving first.”

Fry says it was the first time he parked in front of his home after a race.

While to most losing a race car is disheartening, it is the truck that hurts the most for Fry because of the meaning it holds.

“The trucks way more sentimental for our family and the trailer that the car was on,” said Fry. "My dad and I had built over a few years.”

Fry’s grandfather passed it onto his dad. After his father unexpectedly passed away in 2020 from a heart attack, it was passed onto to Fry.

Losing the man who showed him the way around a wheel was painful, and losing the truck that holds those memories was agonizing.

"We are offering a reward if we find the vehicle in good condition or get information that leads to finding it,” said Fry, calling on whoever did it to do the right thing. “Take the reward, return it. It means a lot to the family.”

The family is offering a $2,500 reward. The Sacramento Police Department says it is actively investigating the theft.

If you have any information, you can contact the dispatch center at (916) 808-5471 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at (916) 443-HELP (4357). Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward. Anonymous tips can also be submitted.
