SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Four minors were involved in a chase that ultimately ended in a crash at an Interstate 80 on-ramp in Sacramento, police said.
According to the Sacramento Police Department, officers found a stolen car, described as a black Kia, in the area of Northgate Boulevard and San Juan Road around 5 p.m.
Police said they tried to get behind the car, but it accelerated away. According to police, the car didn't yield, even with police lights and sirens on, and led them on a chase.
Ultimately, police stopped chasing the car, but the car was seen a few minutes later by a police helicopter leaving the roadway at the eastbound I-80 on-ramp and hitting a tree.
Police said the driver and passenger tried to run away, but they were quickly detained. Two passengers in the backseat were take to a hospital with minor injuries.
The driver, a boy, is in custody on three felony charges in connection to the chase and stolen car. Meanwhile, the passenger, also a boy, is in custody for a felony warrant and was found to have an unserialized gun, police said.
