SACRAMENTO, Calif — A 17-year-old was shot and taken to the hospital Saturday afternoon, according to the Sacramento Police Department.
The shooting happened in the area of Marin Avenue and 78th Street around 3 p.m., police say.
Police say the teenager was found at the scene with at least one life-threatening gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Police are asking people to avoid the area while homicide detectives investigate.
