Police said the suspect also physically attacked the woman's husband, who was taken to a hospital.

FAIRFIELD, Calif. — A man is behind bars after he was accused of sexually assaulting a woman and physically attacking her husband at the Fairfield/Vacaville Amtrak station Tuesday morning.

Fairfield Police Department got a report about a woman in distress at the train station around 11:20 a.m.  As officers responded, officials determined there was a sexual assault in progress.

An officer got to the scene in minutes, intervened, chased down the suspect and caught him near the train station tunnel. Police said the suspect also physically attacked the woman's husband, who was taken to a hospital.

53-year-old Terrance Royston Sr. was booked into the county jail on suspicion of numerous sexual assault charges.

The investigation is ongoing, but police said Royston also allegedly tried to rob a passenger as they were leaving the train not long before the incident.
