Gunman in 'Michael Myers' mask shoots man to death in his garage, deputies in Texas say

Witnesses told investigators they saw someone in a Michael Myers mask walk up to a man in his garage and start shooting.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A man was found shot to death in his garage in north Harris County on Halloween night, according to the sheriff’s office.

The incident happened between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. at a home on Hawks Nest Drive near March Creek Drive in a neighborhood just west of Ella Boulevard.

Crime scene investigators were on the scene Friday morning trying to piece together exactly what happened. Investigators said they were called to the home after reports of multiple shots being fired in the neighborhood.

It was a busy night in the area with people out and about for Halloween. Witnesses told investigators they saw someone in a Michael Myers mask walk up to a man in his garage and start shooting.

“Someone of that description was seen in the area during the shooting. Again, we’re reviewing video, processing the scene, and interviewing witnesses to gather as much evidence as we can,” HCSO Homicide Sgt. Michael Ritchie said.

Family told KHOU 11 that the victim was the estranged husband of a woman killed two months ago. On August 16, 37-year-old Carman Peterson was shot and killed as she slept in her new apartment, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators said the family was inside the home at the time of the shooting but was unharmed. The victim was shot multiple times and could not be saved.

Peterson's family told KHOU 11 they believe the estranged husband was somehow involved in her death, but authorities have not commented on that.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information in this case that could lead to an arrest to call them.
