Chavez was the second person killed in a little more than 24 hours in Stockton.

“It kind of makes you sick to your stomach," said Kevin White, pastor with Crosstown Community Church. "You get a gut feeling, especially for those of us who have had loved ones who are murdered.”

White and his congregation make efforts to heal Stockton by praying after these devastating losses by praying over the sites of homicide scenes.

“A lot of these shooters, they don’t understand how it reverberates through the  community. They think they’re just targeting one person. They don’t know the devastation they do to so many people,” White added.
