STOCKTON, Calif. — A 15-year-old student was arrested in Stockton as fallout continues from a surge of false social media threats toward schools in recent days.
Stockton Police Department said the 15-year-old was a student in the Lodi Unified School District and was arrested after allegedly making a threatening video against a local elementary school. It's not clear what school was threatened; police told ABC10 they weren't releasing the name of the school.
The teen will be facing criminal threat-related charges.
"We want to ensure parents and students realize that making threats can lead to disciplinary action at their school, including potential legal consequences," police said on Facebook.
The Lodi Unified School District said the teen was a student at Bear Creek High School. Officials said the student was not on the Bear Creek campus Tuesday but will face "appropriate disciplinary action."
Police said they will continue providing a presence at schools to ensure safety.
