Suspect in deadly Modesto shooting arrested in Stockton, officials confirm | Update

MODESTO, Calif. — UPDATE: March 17, 2020

Stockton police arrested a man who is accused of shooting and killing a man in Modesto on Tuesday, officials confirmed.

Stockton Police officials said the suspect attempted to escape from police officers. Officers found the man with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, officials said.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital, officials said. Police officials did not release the name of the suspect, only saying that he is from Stockton.

Police are investigating a deadly shooting in Modesto from late Monday night.

Officers were called out to the scene in the 1600 block of Yosemite Boulevard around 10:45 p.m. When officers arrived on scene, they said they found an adult male in critical condition suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

The victim, so far unidentified by police, was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. No one else was injured, police said.

Homicide detectives have not released any information regarding a suspect or suspects, nor have they said what they believe led up to the shooting.
