PLACER COUNTY, Calif. — The man accused of killing a Roseville waitress was arrested again after attacking a correctional officer, officials said.
Johnnie Jordan, 51, is accused of entering the House of Oliver on June 21, 2021 and killing Vita Joga, according to court documents.
Jordan, a convicted felon not allowed to possess a firearm, was expected in Placer County Court that day to be arraigned on charges related to battery and death threats he allegedly aimed toward Joga. He had bailed out earlier and skipped that court appearance. A bench warrant was issued for his arrest, but it did not get to authorities in time to save Joga’s life.
On Monday, the Placer County District Attorney's Office confirmed with ABC10 that Jordan assaulted a correctional officer at the Placer County Jail. He remains in custody at the jail, according to jail records. The Placer County Sheriff's Office said the assault happened on Jan. 19.
A spokesperson for the district attorney's office confirmed his case is currently suspended. He was scheduled to appear in court at 3 p.m. on Jan. 23 in connection to the killing for a trial conference, but he was instead arraigned on the new assault charges.
A spokesperson for the sheriff's office said the correctional officer had minor facial contusions from the attack.
As Jordan faces new charges, Joga’s family is forced to wait even longer to see justice.
They said they want to see Jordan punished for what he’s done and for him not to hurt anyone ever again.
